Several area fire departments responded to a blaze that broke out Dec. 26 in a mobile home at 30 Turner Court. It was the second fire at that location; an earlier fire occurred at about 5 a.m. Dec. 22, according to the state Fire Marshal's Office.

According to Unity Fire Chief Blaine Parsons, the second call came in around 6:30 p.m. Saturday. Besides Unity, crews from Troy, Thorndike, Freedom, Albion and Unity Ambulance responded. Montville Fire Department was on standby. According to Parsons, the fire was cleared by 10:45 p.m.

The mobile home is a total loss, Parsons said, and the cause of fire is undetermined as of this time.

One person lived in the home, but was not home at the time of the fire, the chief said. The individual did not wish to be identified or interviewed.

"I want to thank all the fire and emergency responders for their help," Parsons said. "We had a good stomp on the fire for what we had."

Both fires are under investigation. Anyone having any information regarding these fires is asked to contact the Fire Marshal’s office at 624-7076 and ask to speak to Sgt. Joel Davis.
