A group of about a half-dozen protestors appeared at noon Thursday, Dec. 24, at the corner of Main and High streets to express their disappointment in the Belfast Planning Board.

Earlier, the Planning Board approved five permits for Nordic Aquafarms' proposed land-based Fish Farm on Route 1, where the Little River empties into Penobscot Bay.

The board approved Nordic's shoreland permit Dec. 17, followed by approval Dec. 22 of the company's zoning use permit, significant groundwater well permit, site plan permit, and significant water intake and discharge permit.

Protestors carried signs and banners, speaking with passersby, while occasional passing motorists honked their support.
