Eleanor Rose Wood, 88, passed away Jan. 2, 2021, at her home. Eleanor was born June 7, 1932, in Franklinville, N.J., to William and Anna Deschler, both of whom predeceased her. She spent time working as a glass fabricator prior to her marriage.

Eleanor and her husband, Alfred, spent countless hours volunteering. She volunteered with CEF, The Good News Clubs, Edison Nursing Home and helped run a summer camp for kids.

Eleanor was predeceased by her husband Alfred, who passed away in 2020; by her grandson Alexander Wood; and by her siblings, Mildred Deschler and Boardman Deschler. Surviving are her children, Robert Wood and his wife Barbara of Oklahoma, John Wood and his wife Eleanor of New Jersey, Linda Crocetto of Maine and Kenneth Wood and his wife Gloria of Tennessee; her sisters, Ann Deschler and Ruth Deschler; her brothers, William Deschler and George Deschler; her grandchildren, Brent, Keri, Alan, Michael, Amanda, Olivia and Steven; her 20 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; along with many nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Jan. 8, at Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast, with visiting hours from 10 to 11 a.m. followed by a prayer service at 11. Burial will take place in the spring.
