According to its Facebook page, the town of Stockton Springs has closed its Town Office until Monday, Jan. 11, because a staff member tested positive for COVID-19.

The following message was posted on the town's Facebook page Jan. 4: "Due to a positive case of Covid-19 this past week, per Maine CDC guidelines and for the safety of all staff and citizens, the town office will be closed until Monday, January 11th. We apologize for any inconvenience. Thank you for your understanding."

The page also noted that the Board of Selectmen's meeting scheduled for Jan. 7 had been postponed to Jan. 14.

Town Manager Jennifer King told The Republican Journal by email Jan. 8 that the Town Office learned of the positive test Dec. 31, and one other employee who might have been exposed is quarantining at home. "The town office was thoroughly sanitized and shut down for 10 days, also per CDC guidelines. There were no other positive tests. This was an isolated incident," she said.
