The latest Courier Publications/VillageSoup sports poll is in the books, and the sports staff turns attention to a new topic, as they ask: Do you agree with New England Patriots' coach Bill Belichick's decision not to accept the Presidential Medal of Freedom from President Donald Trump?

Belichick turned down the award from the president  on Monday, Jan. 11, when the coach cited the political climate.

In the most recent sports poll, the sports staff asked  who they believe will win the Super Bowl on Sunday, Feb. 7 in Tampa Bay, Fla.

The results show a clear favorite, as 27.9 percent believe the Green Bay Packers will be victorious in Super Bowl LV (55). Twenty-point-five percent believe the Buffalo Bills will be victorious and take home the Lombardi Trophy, while 15.9 percent chose Tampa Bay. Other data shows 13.6 percent chose Kansas City, while Chicago and Seattle are at 6.8 percent and Washington and New Orleans at 4.5 percent.

Of course, at this point, some of the above teams have been eliminated from contention.

In the Wild Card Round, on Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 9-10, the Buffalo Bills defeated the Indianapolis Colts 27-24, Los Angeles Rams beat the Seattle Seahawks 30-20 and Tampa Bay Buccaneers topped the Washington Football Team 31-23.

On Sunday, the Baltimore Ravens beat the Tennessee Titans 20-13, New Orleans Saints beat the Chicago Bears 21-9 and Cleveland Browns beat the Pittsburgh Steelers 48-37.

The Chiefs and Packers received first-round byes as the top seeds from the American Football Conference and National Football Conference.

Thus, the Colts, Seahawks, Washington Football Team, Titans, Bears and Steelers were eliminated.
