While the weather is cold, Midcoast Recreation Center will offer an outdoor ice rink to the community.

Use of the outdoor rink will be free and public skate, as well as pond hockey, are scheduled.

Stay up to date on the outdoor rink by following MRC on Facebook, as conditions on the ice will be updated regularly on the organization's social media page.

Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays the outdoor ice rink will be available for public skaters, as well as Saturdays and Sundays noon to 4 p.m.

People can rent ice skates for use on the outdoor rink for $5, though either car keys or a driver’s license must be held at the front desk before the skates can be taken out of the building.

Pond hockey can be played on the outdoor Tuesdays and Thursdays, and also 8 a.m. to noon on Saturdays and Sundays.

MRC officials ask skaters to dress warmly and appropriately for the activity.

Skating lessons can be scheduled on the ice.

For more information and to schedule a time, contact Jesse Simko, MRC’s arena director, at jesse@midcoastrec.org.

Currently, the outdoor rink will be closed after dark, and MRC asks people not to use the ice after business hours.
