It was back to the hardwood for the Searsport basketball teams on Monday, Jan. 25.

The Viking boys stayed inside the confines of their gymnasium against Sumner of Sullivan, while the girls hit the road for a short ride up Rt. 1 to face Bucksport.

The boys were successful in their attempt at victory, as the Vikings netted a 67-50 win over the Tigers, while the girls fell 50-33 to the Golden Bucks.

Searsport 67, Sumner 50

At Searsport Jan. 25, the Vikings jumped to an early lead and never looked back. The Vikings led 12-10 after one quarter, 24-18 at halftime and 45-22 after three quarters.

Josh Wright led the hosts, and all scorers, with 21 points, while Chase Brassbridge added 13; Gabe Kneeland, 10; Gage Ellis, six; Cody Reynolds and Tim Smith, four; Ashton Ellis, three; and Sam Cahill and Cole Ellis, two.

The Vikings knocked down eight 3-pointers, as Wright connected for four; Brassbridge, two; and Ashton Ellis and Gage Ellis, one.

Jackson Bunker led the visitors with 16 points, while Emmett Moshier tallied 12 (all in the fourth quarter); Sam Bunch, eight; Matt Stoddert, six; Austin Britton, five; and Connor Kelly, two.

Sumner sank five treys, as Bunker and Moshier hit two, and Britton, one.

The Vikings were 14-of-26 (53 percent) from the foul line and Sumner 2-of-5 (40 percent).

Girls

Bucksport 50, Searsport 33

At Bucksport Jan. 25, the Golden Bucks broke a first-quarter tie and surged past the Vikings. The teams were tied 7-7 after the first eight minutes, while the Golden Bucks led 24-17 at halftime and 37-23 after three quarters.

Makenzie Alley scored 17 points for Searsport, while Abby Astbury added six; Kyla Perkins, five; Emily Mello, three; and Emma Spiegel, two.

Sara Bos keyed Bucksport with 16 points, while Sam Cyr added 11; Kaylee Gray, nine; Mercedes Taungatua, six; Lanie Stubbs, five; and Makenzie Brooks, three.

The Vikings were 15-of-24 (62 percent) from the foul line, while the Golden Bucks were 11-of-19 (58 percent).
