Finally…we have some news (aside from 2021, COVID-19, the Capitol insurrection, the inauguration, Groundhog Day, second impeachment, etc.).

As you may already know, Brooks has an 8-acre park that was recently deeded to the town. While the park has been neglected for a number of years, it has tremendous potential. The Brooks Recreation Department has plans to bring it back to its former glory.

All are welcome to attend the Rec Department's meeting on Monday, March 1, beginning at 6 p.m. (at the Town Office) with a budgetary discussion and continuing with an informative session featuring ideas for a garden club, fireworks and snow cones!

They will also be looking for donations of used flower pots for a fundraising plant sale happening in late spring. In addition, grants are in the works to finance the construction of a walking path. Survey results returned to the Planning Board indicated overwhelming support for this project. Please plan to attend and volunteer — we'll all benefit.

Brooks is currently looking for an emergency management director. For more information or to submit your name for consideration, you can contact Jane at the Town Office.

Since cases of COVID continue to increase, if you haven't already done so, you may call 1-877-780-7545 (follow the prompts) to schedule your vaccination.

Happy (belated) January birthdays to Millie Gibbs, 1st; Susan Champa, 6th; Judy Brossmer, 21st; Ray Quimby, 31st.

I'm happy to do this column, but please remember that it doesn't work without you. Feel free to contact me with your news!

Until next time…peace.
