The Mount View and Waterville basketball teams squared off on Friday, Feb. 5, as the road squads claimed victories in the court cases.

The Mustang boys emerged with a 75-58 win at Waterville, while the girls came up short in a 49-33 decision at Thorndike.

The Mount View boys improved to 4-3, while the Mustang girls dipped to 3-4.

The following is a recap of the contests:


Mount View 75, Waterville 58

At Waterville Feb. 5, the Mustangs galloped past the host Purple Panthers. Mount View led 17-13, 39-27 and 59-39 at the quarter breaks.

Draedyn Furrow led Mount View with 18 points, while Tyler Russell added 14; Declan Knowlton, 12; Joe Grassi and Wyatt Evensen, 10; Sean Raven, six; and Noah Hurd, five.

For Waterville, Liam Von Oesen and Ethan Hobort scored 17 points, while Spencer Minihan added 11 and Joe Hamelin nine.

The Mustangs netted 6-of-14 (43 percent) from the foul line and Purple Panthers were 4-of-11 (36 percent).


Waterville 49, Mount View 33

At Thorndike Feb. 5, the Purple Panthers prowled past the host Mustangs. Waterville led 12-2, 27-11 and 41-19 at the quarter breaks.

Hannah Ferriera and Kricket Thompson keyed Mount View with 10 points, while Hannah Coolen added six; Bela Serrano, four; and Syd Vogel, three. Thompson also hauled in 15 rebounds, Coolen seven and Vogel five.

Kiera Gilman led Waterville with 18 points, while Kali Thompson added 16; Gabby Maines and Abby Saucier, six; Paige St. Pierre, two; and Lindsay Given, one.

The Purple Panthers finished 4-of-9 (44 percent) from the foul line and Mustangs 4-of-6 (67 percent).
