The Searsport basketball teams headed north to play a doubleheader at Deer Isle-Stonington on Monday night, Feb. 8, as the Mariners proved anything but gracious hosts to the visiting Vikings.

The Mariners collected a pair of wins, as the boys earned a 75-41 victory and girls a 68-31 triumph.

The following is a breakdown of those contests:

Boys

Deer Isle-Stonington 75, Searsport 41

At Deer Isle Feb. 8, the Mariners outscored the Vikings in all four stanzas and sailed to a lopsided win. Deer Isle-Stonington led 17-8, 38-19 and 59-29 at the quarter breaks.

Josh Wright scored 15 points for Searsport, while Gage Ellis added eight; Sam Cahill, six; Cody Reynolds, five; Eli Higgins, three; and Gabe Kneeland and Tim Smith, two.

Myles Brown scored 19 points for the hosts, while Thomas Thompson added 15; Coleman Brown and Dillon Steele, 12; Sam Knowlton, eight; Zach Billings, seven; and Jacob Gell, two.

The Vikings were 8-of-11 (72 percent) from the foul line, while the Mariners were 5-of-10 (50 percent).

Girls

Deer Isle-Stonington 68, Searsport 31

At Deer Isle Feb. 8, the Mariners held the Vikings to a single first-quarter field goal and emerged with a 37-point triumph. Deer Isle-Stonington led 19-2, 41-12 and 57-27 at the quarter breaks.

Makenzie Alley, who has been consistently offensively strong this season and sits at 899 career points (just 101 from the coveted 1,000), scored 24 points for Searsport, while Kyla Perkins added six and Sarah Gent three.

Rylee Eaton scored 20 points for Deer Isle-Stonington, while Luna Perry St. Peter added 15; Macey Brown, 10; Taylor Hardy, nine; Kaylee Morey, eight; Maya Brown, five; and Maddy Eaton, one.

The Vikings finished 6-of-11 (54 percent) from the foul line and the Mariners 7-of-11 (63 percent).
