While not many have offered middle school sports this winter, two in Waldo County are as the Mount View Junior High School and Searsport District Middle School basketball teams have been in action on the hardwood.

Mount View has four teams — eighth-grade boys, eighth-grade girls, sixth- and seventh-grade boys and sixth- and seventh-grade girls — while Searsport has one boys and one girls team.

Teams from Mount View participate in the Central Maine League, while teams from Searsport participate in the Penobscot Valley Middle School League.

Girls

Lawrence 65, Mount View 7th 3

At Thorndike Feb. 2, the Mustangs scored three first-quarter points, but were shutout the rest of the way in a lopsided loss to the Bulldogs. Lawrence of Fairfield led 23-3, 45-3 and 53-3 at the quarter breaks.

Madison Bennett scored two points for Mount View and Carly Aitken one, while Maddie Provost (22 points), Ashley Shores (18 points), Nat Pelletier (8 points), Arianna Goodwin (6 points), Kiena Day (4 points), A.J. Provost (2 points) and Payton Cole (2 points) led Lawrence.

The Mustangs were 1-of-10 (10 percent) from the foul line, while the Bulldogs finished 2-of-7 (29 percent).

Madison 53, Mount View 8th 32

At Thorndike Jan. 27, the Bulldogs escaped from the Mustangs’ pen and clawed to a 21-point win. Madison led 25-9, 37-23 and 37-30 at the quarter breaks.

Arianna Bradeen led Mount View with 16 points, while Savannah Lorenz added six; Kayleigh Dunton, four; and Emma Hurd, Brooke Dyer and Mikayla Jones, two.

Raegan Cowan keyed Madison with 15 points, while Kenzi Robbins added 11; Jeala Almeida and Jacey Moody, eight; Allison Tuscan, five; and Liana Hartwell and Bryanna Hagopian, three.

The Mustangs were 8-of-15 (53 percent) from the foul line and the Bulldogs 7-of-22 (32 percent).

Messalonskee 39, Mount View 8th 28

At Oakland Jan. 29, the Eagles soared past the visiting Mustangs. Messalonskee led 11-8, 16-10 and 27-20 at the quarter breaks.

Arianna Bradeen led Mount View with 13 points, while Kayleigh Dunton added nine; Savannah Lorenz, four; and Maggie Natale, two.

Mount View 7th 23, Messalonskee 20

At Thorndike Jan. 29, the Mustangs did just enough to collect a victory over the Eagles. Mount View led 10-4, 12-9 and 19-13 at the quarter breaks.

Madison Bennett led the Mustangs with 17 points, while Elizabeth Birkbeck added four and Jaz Totman two.

Mount View was 5-of-19 (26 percent) from the foul line, while Messalonskee was 2-of-12 (17 percent).

Mount View 7th 29, Messalonskee 22

At Messalonskee Jan. 25, the Mustangs bested the Eagles. Messalonskee led 10-4, 14-7 and 20-13 at the quarter breaks before Mount View went on a 16-2 run in the fourth quarter to emerge victorious.

Madison Bennett scored 20 points for the winners, while Carley Aitken added eight and Linnea Bassett one.

Mount View was 1-of-2 (50 percent) from the foul line, while Messalonskee did not attempt a free throw.

Boys

Lawrence 34, Mount View 7th 17

At Fairfield Feb. 3, the host Bulldogs doubled the Mustangs. Lawrence led 13-2, 18-4 and 27-10 at the quarter breaks.

Kaden Bradeen led Mount View with eight points, while Matt Ryder added four; Victor Ahlfeld and Dominic Nash, two; and Shea Lynch, one.

Dawson Moore led Lawrence with 17 points, while Bradford Leighton added six.

Mount View netted 7-of-18 (39 percent) from the foul line and Lawrence 9-of-18 (50 percent).

Mount View 7th 25, Winslow 22

At Thorndike Feb. 1, the Mustangs netted a three-point win over the Black Raiders.

Kaden Bradeen led the winners with 11 points, while Matt Ryder added 10 and Cooper Wren and Shea Lynch two.

Mount View was 3-of-7 (43 percent) from the foul line.
