The Town of Thorndike is soliciting bids on three foreclosed properties. Refer to for specifications and requirements, which can be requested from the Town office or viewed online.

Bids will be accepted and recorded by receipt until 6 p.m. March 3 at the Thorndike Town Office, 125 Mount View Road, Thorndike ME  04986.

The annual dog licensing deadline has been extended to June 2, because of the pandemic and the hours at the town offices. Now, one should have no excuse.

Condolences to the family and friends of Carolyn Shute. She will really be missed by her daughter, Tiffany and those grandbabies. Rest in peace.

Our recycling center is busy preparing to start accepting glass again. It is quite a process, and I will let you know when they are ready.

Papa Dixon had a visit with Dustin, recently. He has received his first COVID-19 vaccination. He goes directly to the Franklin Memorial Hospital for his, which is close to home for him. He and Dustin had the usual snacks and conversation, interspersed with much laughter. Dustin looks forward to those visits.

The town meeting is getting closer, and I hope we have some interest in running for some of the town office positions to be filled at the meeting time.

Condolences to the family and friends of Betty Black Keating, who passed away recently. She was born in Thorndike and attended Washington School when I did. She contacted me a few years ago and we had a nice chat.

I always remembered going with Father to visit them. She will be lovingly remembered by her family and especially by those two granddaughters. Rest in peace, Betty.

Maine also lost one of its best friends, George Smith, who recently passed away from the effects of ALS. He was a writer, outdoorsman, political activist and for 18 years he was the head of The Sportsmen's Alliance of Maine. He will be missed by his family and most of the State.
