March is upon us — in like a lion, out like a lamb — let the winds roar! My chickens have been enjoying the softened ground, there must be a bug or two emerging. I saw a spider walk across my porch the other day.

In keeping with my Eat Local, Buy Local, Support your Local Farmer, I’d like to ask any of you here in Jackson to share if you will be opening a farm stand, what you might be offering for sale and where. Or maybe you’re considering a Community Supported Agriculture program.

Also note, for those of you who want to get your chef hat on, don’t forget the Jackson Community Center has a licensed commercial kitchen for rent, as well as the hall for events, $125/day or $25/hour. The application and more information can be found online at jacksonmaine.net.

For more information, contact the town office at 722-3439.

Jackson History Nugget

Looks like we’ve been battling fake news for well over a hundred years and right here in Jackson. On Sept. 4, 1840, a certain Elias Harmon addressed a letter to Mr. Rowe at the paper as follows:

“I noticed in your yesterday’s Journal, in the doings of a Democratic caucus held in the town of Jackson… those Resolutions which appeared in your paper were not reported in said caucus; they were not published as reported and accepted by said caucus, but were disturbed and shockingly mutilated in the language employed by the Committee.”

May I never shockingly mutilate any of the Jackson Town News you all so graciously share with me. Have a great week!
