We had some great weather this past week, and it got up to 66 degrees in the gazebo. We are just loving it.

I have been enjoying the Freedom column written by Nathan McCann. I was born in Freedom and lived many years there, raising the girls and enjoying the grandchildren. Now, I live far away in Thorndike. I have always enjoyed the historical tidbits of that town. Some of them are quite interesting to say the least. Good job, Nathan.

Hello to Neil Gibb, a past fireman from Thorndike that has moved away. I know he is still reading the journal from time to time.

The Town of Thorndike is searching for a new town clerk, treasurer and tax collector. They're looking for someone who can commit three days a week and have some knowledge of bookkeeping and other office duties. If interested, contact the Thorndike Town Office. Town meeting is tentatively scheduled for the end of March.

The town is soliciting bids on three foreclosed properties. Please visit thorndikemaine.com for specifications and requirements, which can be requested from the Town Office or viewed online. Bids will be accepted and recorded by receipt until 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 3, at the Thorndike Town Office, 125 Mount View Road, Thorndike, Maine 04986

The donation box for kids was such a great success that it is being continued all year. I will be taking things over periodically. If you have any questions. please call the town office at 568-3655. I believe this is for residents of SAD 3.

Dustin will be celebrating his birthday soon. No big party this year. We are having guests in, two at a time for a bit of cake and ice cream after they have some steak and cheese pizza. Happy birthday, Dustin.

Doris Lessing is quoted as saying, "As you get older, you don't get wiser, you get irritable."

Have a great week and enjoy the out of doors as often and as much as you can.
