Greetings, lovelies. Despite the weather, it's time to emerge from hibernation. Things are starting to look up.

Reminder: The Brooks town meeting will be held in May this year, NOT March.

The Marsh River Theatre Board met recently (via Zoom) to discuss a possible 2021 season. That presents many issues related to COVID. As you can imagine, performances need to be planned well in advance — something that really can't be done at this time.

We're thinking of an August/September timeline since more people will have been vaccinated and some restrictions lifted. The theater is large enough that protocols for capacity and distancing can be followed as long as patrons make a reservation. It may also be possible to hold some events outdoors in the park.

If you have any suggestions, feel free to contact me. The theater will also be relying on Facebook to disseminate information, so be sure to follow there.

The Brooks Rec Department also met this past week. The discussion focused on ideas for the park and included: dog park, walking trail, garden club, ice skating rink, handicap accessible fishing dock, playground equipment, soccer field, pickle ball court, and a number of different fundraisers. How about a disc golf course? We really need to get busy with this so the park can benefit all of us.

The next meeting is scheduled for April 5 at 6:30 p.m. Contact Mike Switzer for more information.

April 3 is Easter Bunny Day! She/he will be hopping around the Town Office parking lot from 10 a.m. to noon, handing out bags of goodies.

The opening date for Ralph's Cafe is Friday, March 19. They will be open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for now. Hopefully, this can be expanded as COVID restrictions are eased.

A lot of physical changes and improvements have already been done, and the focus will be on more bakery goods and espresso drinks (would you like me to make you a large, soy, no foam, half-sweet vanilla latte with chocolate drizzle? Thought not).

Six tables are inside, so reservations are encouraged, but not required. The phone number is 722-3236.

Until next time…peace.
