Trivia Night!

Penobscot Marine Museum is sponsoring ZOOM trivia nights Tuesdays, March 16 and 23, from 7 to 8 p.m., featuring marine trivia. So, get out your copy of “Moby Dick” and watch the movie, “Jaws,” again to prepare! To sign up, get in touch with Jeana Ganskop at 548-2529, ext. 213, or email her at gganskop@pmm-maine.org.

Peek into Paintings

Also don’t miss their series, Peek into Paintings, Fridays at noon on Facebook. On Friday, March 12, they will talk about lumber schooners painted by Fitz Henry Lane, and on Friday, March 26, they will be discussing marine artists of the 1960s, focusing on a painting by Searsport’s Waldo Pierce of Carver Yard with the ship John Carver.

Make a coiled rope basket

This month’s Carver Memorial Library DIY project is a basket made from rope and yarn. Really unique, and it would make a nice gift! Pick up your free kit at the library anytime this month. Next month plant markers will be featured. In May, they will explore visible mending similar to the Japanese skill of sashiko.

Book Club happens via Zoom these days on the second Tuesday of the month.  April’s book, “The Given Day” by Dennis Lehane, will be discussed April 13 at 1 p.m. Call the library or check the website to get the Zoom link.

St. Patrick’s Day Dinner

The girls are at it again and are planning a traditional St. Patrick’s Day dinner on Wednesday, March 17. The meal includes corned beef and cabbage with carrots, potatoes, turnips, real Irish soda bread, and chocolate Guinness cake for dessert! Pickup will be at the Congregational Church at 7 Church St. in Searsport from 3:30 to 6 p.m.

The dinner is free, but donations will be accepted to benefit the Kindness Program. Call Jayne at 407-694-8733 or Sandra at 207-548-6530 to reserve a dinner.
