After the game had been postponed three times for various reasons, the long awaited playoff matchup between No. 3 Searsport and No. 2 Bucksport played out on Monday, March 8, as the Golden Bucks came away with a 69-31 win over the young Vikings.

With the victory, Bucksport advances to the Hancock County C/D COVID Cup final, where it will face No. 5 George Stevens Academy of Blue Hill on Tuesday, March 9.

Searsport’s season concluded at 3-10.

In Monday's game, Bucksport led 19-12 after the first quarter before seizing control — by virtue of a 23-5 run — to take a commanding 42-17 halftime advantage. The hosts extended their lead to 61-25 after three quarters.

Ty Giberson led the Golden Bucks with 24 points, while Colin Simpson added 11; Logan Stanley, 10; Caden Blackwood, nine; Evan Donnell, five; Owen Sherwood, four; and Jake WIlliams, Kamryn Webber and Xavier Morrison, two.

Josh Wright paced Searsport with 10 points, while Gabe Kneeland and Cody Reynolds added six and Ashton Ellis, Chase Brassbridge and Cole Ellis three.

Bucksport was 11-of-14 (79 percent) from the charity stripe, while Searsport finished 2-of-6 (33 percent).
