One confirmed case of COVID-19  has been identified at Troy Howard Middle School and one at East Belfast Elementary School, Regional School Unit 71 Superintendent Mary Alice McLean said in a March 10 email.

Students at East Belfast were to be dismissed at noon and will be in fully remote learning from tomorrow until Monday, March 22, she said. Only students at Troy Howard who were in close contact with the infected individual will be dismissed. Seventh graders will be in fully remote learning from tomorrow until Friday, March 18.

McLean announced March 5 that there was a confirmed case associated Belfast Area High School and those who were in close contact with the individual were notified.

Bagged lunches will be sent home with children, she said. She urged everyone to continue to continue following coronavirus mandates. "Though we can see the light at the end of the tunnel, it continues to be imperative that we all continue to strictly follow all safety protocols, especially wearing masks and maintaining social distance."
