Frankfort will vote to approve replacing the fishway in the dam behind the Town Office at its March 25 municipal election to bring the fishway into government compliance.

While the dam itself will not be replaced, the existing fishway does not extend far enough into low tide but is in fair condition, Selectman Steven Imondi said. The town has been in contact with the state regarding the issue for about 10 years.

If the change is approved by voters, selectmen will start seeing what government funds are available to help pay for the project before putting it out to bid, he said. The option selectmen are putting forth protects the waterway and allows fish access to the stream.

Voting will take place at the Frankfort Congregational Church Thursday, March 25, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Town meeting will be held at the Wagner School Friday, March 26, at 7 p.m.
