Here’s what is happening this week. As to last week’s election, Douglas Norman and Linda Payson have been reelected to their posts as selectmen.

Celebrate National Poetry month

There are two ways you can participate. Firstly, there will be a poetry round table via Zoom on Thursday, April 15, at 6:30 p.m., hosted by widely published former Belfast Poet Laureate Ellen Sander. Join fellow poetry enthusiasts in sharing a poem meaningful to you or just listening to others. The Zoom address is: https://networkmaine.zoom.us/j/88389814069. Meeting ID is 883 8981 4069. April 29 is “Poem in your Pocket” Day, where you carry a short favorite poem in your pocket, look at it often, memorize it, or share it with friends.

Carver Memorial Library News

The DIY kits to make plant markers are really clever and are currently available. Go to carverlibrary.org for more details and photos.

Spot of Tea fundraiser

For the second year in a row, Carver Library is unable to host its Annual Spring Tea. This year the library has a different way to enjoy tea and support the library. Funds raised will benefit the beautification of library grounds. There are three ways you can participate.

(1) Tea for Two for a donation of $10 or more that includes a specially selected tea and a recipe for the best scones you’ve ever tasted.

(2) Morning Tea for a donation of $25 or more includes Tea for Two plus a metal Carver Memorial Library bookmark (while supplies last), a selection of Carver Library note cards and a coupon from Coastal Café.

(3) Afternoon Tea for a donation of $200 or more for a special tea party at the home of Marge Knuuti for up to six people at a mutually arranged time when it’s safe to meet inside. Marge will serve tea, scones, assorted sandwiches and desserts. She will host up to three tea parties.

The library asks that you include your name, mailing address, your preference of mail or library pickup and your donation. All participants will be entered into a drawing on May 7 for a Gourmet Tea Basket filled with local goodies to be picked up at the library or at curbside.

Calling all Masons!

The Searsport Masons are starting a campaign to renovate the Searsport Masonic Hall. They’d like to redo the kitchen, bathrooms and flooring so they may hold suppers like they did in years past. If you can help in any way, give Gary Collins a call at 338-0501.

HOBBA hobba

HOBBA is an acronym for Head of the Bay Business group. Members have begun to meet again via Zoom on the fourth Thursday of the month at 8 a.m. They exchange ideas for upcoming town events and manage the information booth.

If you would like to network with fellow business people in Searsport and Stockton Springs, get in touch with Ellie Flagg at Bangor Savings Bank to get on the list at Ellie.Flagg@bangor.com or call the branch at 548-6065.
