Another key piece of the New England Patriots' success the past 12 years has decided to move on from the team, as wide receiver Julian Edelman announced on Monday, April 12 he will hang up his cleats and retire.

With Edelman's announcement, the Courier Publications/VillageSoup sports poll asks: Do you believe Edelman should be inducted into the National Football League Hall of Fame?

Edelman capped his career second on the all-time Patriots' list in receptions (620) and fourth in receiving yards (6,822). He proved a clutch performer in the postseason and helped the Pats win three Super Bowls.

In his postseason career, Edelman is second all-time in catches (118) and receiving yards (1,442), behind only Jerry Rice in both categories.

According to ESPN, Edelman had the final year of his contract terminated due to a "failed physical," and "becomes eligible for the injury protection benefit" and "can collect up to two-million dollars through this benefit."

The most recent sports poll focused on the Boston Red Sox, and how voters believed the season would play out.

Thirty-point-four percent of respondents believe Boston will make the playoffs, but lose before the World Series, while 21.7 percent thought the Red Sox will finish with 81-90 victories or 70-80 wins on the year. Another 17.4 percent believe Boston will finish the season with less than 70 victories, while 8.7 percent think the team will be World Series champions. No selections were made for the "lose in World Series" option.

As of April 14, Boston (9-3) is on a nine-game win streak, and sits first in the American League East standings.
