William Joseph (Bill) Vachon, 81, died April 11, 2021, peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Bill was born Aug. 1, 1939, in Brewer, the son of Arthur and Frances (Boyce) Vachon. He graduated from Brewer High School in 1957 and attended Husson College for one year before entering the Army, where he served from September 1958 to 1960. After discharge from the Army, he worked several jobs before starting his career in sales at RD Faulkner Inc. of Brewer.

In 1980, he moved his family to Lancaster, N.H., to work for Hampton Equipment and continued his sales work at Stihl Inc. of Virginia Beach, Va., until his retirement. He loved “the road,” his dealers, his coworkers, and the Stihl product line, and he was recognized over the years for his outstanding sales performance and years of dedicated service.

In 1961, Bill met the love of his life, Becky, and they married in 1965. They celebrated 55 years together in June 2020. In 2005 he retired and together they traveled the states, went on several cruises, and spent many years in St. Simonds Island, Ga., and Myrtle Beach, S.C., during the winter months.

He enjoyed camping with his family, spending time with family and friends, and was a regular on Woodsman’s Day at Fryeburg Fair, cutting chain for years. Retirement kept Bill busy with woodworking and neighborhood projects. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Belfast, part of St. Brendan the Navigator Parish. He served as tax collector and on the Planning Board of the town of Morrill for several years.

Bill was predeceased by his parents, Arthur and Frances Vachon; two brothers, Donald and Raymond; brothers-in-law David Blood, Robert Sampson and Robert Carrigan; and sister-in-law Penny Vachon.
