High school tennis has been played at a frantic pace on Midcoast courts in recent days as area squads continued to realize plenty of team and individual success.

In fact, court student-athletes from Camden Hills, Belfast, Medomak Valley and Oceanside have caused quite a racket with strong play Tuesday through Friday, May 4-7.

Medomak Valley and Oceanside renewed their athletic rivalries on May 4, matches that saw the Panthers prowl to a pair of court victories.

The Panther boys netted a 5-0 road win over the Mariners in Rockland, while the Panther girls edged the Mariners 3-2 in Waldoboro.

Camden Hills also was in action and split with Lincoln Academy of Newcastle as the boys swung to a 5-0 win, while the girls were dealt a 4-1 defeat.

Additionally, the Belfast boys also collected a 5-0 home win over Brewer.

The action continued on Thursday, May 6, a scenario that saw the Windjammers net wins over the Mariners, while the Panther teams were dealt losses by Waterville.

The Lions boys also swung to a 3-2 win over Ellsworth.

On Friday, May 7, Waterville handed the Mariner boys a 5-0 loss as Oceanside had only two players available to compete.

Girls

Camden Hills 3, Oceanside 2

At Rockland May 6, the Windjammers sailed past the Mariners in a local nautical battle.

The individual results, with Oceanside players listed first, were: In singles, Emma Carpenter beat Eliza Nickerson, 6-4, 6-1; Alexa Barstow beat Ilana Lam, 6-2, 6-2; and Jaska Malone lost to Julia Russell, 0-6, 1-6.

In doubles, Alydia Hatch and Alyssa Griffin lost to Kaitlin Heintzman and Zoe Hansen, 5-7, 5-7; and Hazel Ragozzine and Addie Hendricks lost to Autumn Deebler and Deanna Montgomery, 2-6, 3-6.

Waterville 5, Medomak Valley 0

At Waterville May 6, the Purple Panthers swung past the Panthers en route to a convincing win.

The individual results, with Medomak Valley players listed first, were: In singles, Elle Ashmore lost to Inga Simba, 0-6, 1-6; Lizzi Swan lost to Amna Sheikh, 0-6, 1-6; and Jordan Doughty lost to Saran McNeil, 0-6, 1-6.

In doubles, Ana Underhill and Micaela Lorentzen lost to Keira Gilman and Karin Zimba, 0-6, 0-6, while Medomak Valley forfeited to Waterville at second doubles.

At Waldoboro May 4, the Panthers edged the visiting Mariners.

At Newcastle May 4, the Eagles soared past the visiting Windjammers.

At Rockport May 6, the Windjammers emerged with a shutout win over the visiting Mariners.

At Belfast May 6, the Lions roared loud and proud in a triumph over the Eagles.
