The annual Hazardous Waste Collection Day for residents of Camden, Hope, Lincolnville and Rockport will be held Saturday, June 19, from 12:30 to 3 p.m. at Mid-Coast Solid Waste, 90 Union St. in Rockport. The fee is $10 per unit; a unit is 5 gallons or 20 pounds of hazardous waste.
All items brought to the collection must be in sealed containers. Tighten caps and lids, leaving materials in the original labeled container when possible. Pack containers in sturdy, upright boxes and pad with newspapers. Sort and pack separately: paints, pesticides, household cleaners. Never mix chemicals. Place materials in a vehicle, preferably in the trunk. Prevent the box from tipping over in the car. Go directly to the collection site. On arrival, stay in your car. Never smoke while handling hazardous materials.
