Greetings.
By now I think most of us know more about the brown-tail moth caterpillar (Euproctis chrysorrhoea) than we’d like. If you’ve been affected by the rash (I have a pretty severe case), I have a CDC recommended homemade salve: mix 1/4 cup Witch Hazel, 1/2 tube hydrocortisone, 1/2 tube Benadryl and 1/4 tube Aspercreme or Lidocaine. Apply topically 2-3 times per day. Do not take oral Benadryl while using this as it might cause drowsiness. I’d have to say that this works for about four hours. PenBay is also offering a salve — have your physician call it in. The cost is $20.
Come home to the park
July 3 will be here before you know it. Lots of activities have been planned and the day will end with fireworks. If you have any questions, please contact me, the Town Office or Ralph’s Cafe. We’re currently working on forming softball teams. If you are interested in playing or you have a team, that would be great. Again — please check in with us. Volleyball games are also possible.
Brooks Garden Club
The newly formed garden club has been working hard to prepare for the planting of a large number of daylilies. These will go in at various sites throughout the town. We can use all the help we can get to put them in the ground, so again — please let me know if you are interested.
Brooks Historical Society
The society has acquired more “Sketches of Brooks History” books. They are for sale at the Brooks Town Office. The price is $24.
Until next time … peace.
