I have been hearing a lot of talk about that darned brown-tail moth. It seems to be raising a big ruckus in Waldo County. I believe I have all of the infested trees in my yard sprayed and they are already greening up again. I have also ordered the granules I need to feed the trees with and that should take care of those pesky critters next year. I just have to be sure to treat them annually.

Dirigo Grange, Freedom, will be hosting a drive-thru Strawberry Shortcake Fundraiser Sunday, June 27, 2 to 4 p.m. at the site of the former Ingraham Equipment building at the intersection of routes 137 and 220, on Knox Ridge. The cost is $5 per plate. Take a drive and support the local Grange.

Dustin enjoyed his weekend of dog-sitting Mia, while Chris was away for a few days. She is the best dog and so well-behaved. We both miss her when she goes home.

On July 3 (rain date July 10), come to the Brooks Community Park for a day of fun in the park. There will be crafters, chicken barbecue, vintage cars, children’s games, food vendors, antiques, Holly the DJ and fireworks. Events start off at 9 a.m.

To kill fleas, simply lather your dog with a mix of equal parts shampoo and mouthwash, wait 5 minutes and rinse. Just another use for Listerine or its generic duplicate. Straight mouthwash can also be used as an underarm deodorant.

Do not forget to stop by “My Sister and I” shop on Depot Street, Thorndike Village, between the hours of 10 a.m. and 5 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday, and see all the pretty things the girls have to offer. It is worth the drive. They can be reached at 568-3617 or 557-2791.

Condolences are being sent to the family and friends of Joe Kline. He will definitely be missed.

Congratulations to all the graduates of Mount View High School and may all your dreams come true.

Have a great week and do not put away your winter clothes just yet. I had a fire in the wood stove today, after enduring heat and humidity just a few days ago. As the saying goes, if you do not like the weather in Maine, just wait a few minutes and it will change.
