Do not forget about the strawberry shortcake fundraiser sponsored by the Freedom Grange on Sunday, June 27, 2 to 4 p.m. at the site of the former Ingraham Equipment building at the intersection of routes 220 and 137 on Knox Ridge.  The cost is $5 per plate.  This will be drive-thru only.

Papa Dixon visited with Dustin recently.  They had a grand time in the gazebo telling stories and listening to some good old country music.

Sounds like a good time to be had by all in Brooks on July 3 (rain date July 10). Events start off at 9 a.m.  There will be crafters, chicken barbecue, vintage cars, children’s games, food vendors, antiques, Holly the DJ and fireworks. This will all be at the Brooks Community Park, 24 Community Drive, Brook. If you would like a space to display antiques or crafts, contact Karen Hudgins at 722-3056 for application and information. Tables are $25 per space. Come and spend the day in the park.

I have been enjoying working in the garden and having fresh radishes in my salads. Everything is growing nicely (even the weeds) I can hardly wait for fresh cucumbers.

I had a call from my old school mate, Donnie Bagley, recently. He likes to keep up on the daily goings on in Thorndike and surrounding towns. We always manage to get laughing about something that happened many years ago.

Quentin Crisp is quoted as saying, “Never keep up with the Joneses. Drag them down to your level.”
Have a great week, enjoy a long walk with a friend and keep smiling.
