It looks like I’ll be able to make strawberry jam this year! Nothing compares to homemade jam. It does seem early this year; I usually anticipate making jam around the first of July. Of course the lilacs and then my peonies all blossomed early as well.

Chicken barbecue Sunday, June 27 at the Legion Hall on Windemere Lane, noon until they sell out, $10. Includes a half-chicken, baked beans, coleslaw, dessert and drink.

Welcome new chef/manager Rob Stevens at Mammie’s Country Kitchen on Depot Street. I’ve previewed their new menu and it looks exciting.

It is important to note that no one should be swimming near the boat launch. Although it may seem safe, the rule is in place for a reason. I know someone who recently got cut up by a boat’s propeller. Ouch! The dog area remains to the right of the boat launch. Please clean up after your dog as there are children running around barefoot and people like to sit in the grass. Multiple “presents” have been left behind. No fishing off either dock or the area between them.

Unity does have a library that is open all the time … Aubri and Riley’s Little Free Library outside the Town Office. Feel free to drop off children’s books in gently used condition at the Town Office.

Budget Committee members needed! If you are interested in how municipalities are funded and how those funds are spent, please get in touch with the Town Office. Learn what different revenue streams there are and how they can be applied to municipal expenditures. Meetings are held three-four times per year.

My Aunt Connie passed away this week. Sympathy extended to the Constable/Tucker side of my family as well as her friends. Sandra Tucker, Chuck’s wife, of Thorndike also passed away this week.
