We have got a new format for our news now. The layout is different. I have trying to get on my internet, kept booting on and off today. So would type and lose into cyberspace. Poof and gone! Am back, so to enjoy this sunny day.

Our road

I am thrilled that we are getting culverts replaced and our road fixed up. The Works crew has been busy. This has been a long time coming.

Sympathy

I was sorry to hear that Sharon Chase Shaw, Connie Constable and Sandra Tucker have all passed away. They will be missed by family and friends.

Public supper

Northport VFW Post 6131 will be serving a baked chicken supper Saturday, June 26, from 4:30 p.m. until sold out. Macaroni salad, coleslaw, yeast rolls and dessert, $8 for adults. This the first supper at the hall. Everyone welcome.

Grange fundraiser

Dirigo Grange, aka Freedom Grange, will be holding their strawberry shortcake fundraiser. This will be on Sunday, June 27, 2-4 p.m. at the former Ingraham Equipment. Drive-thru takeout only.

Fourth of July

On July 3 there will be a chicken barbecue, food vendors, games for kids, crafts sales, Holly with her Music DJ, and fireworks at Brooks Park. Starts at 9 a.m. For a table, contact Karen at 722-3056.

On July 4 there will be the usual parade in town at 10 a.m. Come join in the fun. Be in the parade.

Legion barbecue

There will be a Chicken Barbecue at the Unity American Legion Post on Sunday, June 27, at noon until sold out. Half a chicken, barbecue sauce, chips, baked beans, roll, dessert and beverage. $10 each plate. Eat in or takeout.

MVHS graduation

Many of us attended the graduation on June 13. A beautiful day for the outside occasion. Congrats to all the graduates. And to Kayden and Jacie, we are so proud of you both. Kayden and Gabby will go to USM and Jacie to UMF. There was 17 of us that went to Mammie’s for lunch afterwards. They kept coming in. We stayed longer than expected, but the waitress was nice about it. We all had a good time, talking and visiting together.

Regional School Unit 3 Summer Meals Program for those 18 and under, call Tina 568-4607 to sign up. Those meals are a big help.

Open house

Brooks Historical Society will be open on Sunday, June 27, 1-3 p.m.  Everyone invited to see all they have gathered.

Strawberries

The berries are ready at Mueller’s in Thorndike. Schartner’s old farm. You pick or all picked. Raven’s in Freedom, 382-6329 to pick your own. Time to make strawberry jam.

Knox Booster Club

A raffle is ongoing now until July 1. “Go Out and Grill Raffle.” Tickets are $10 each or three/$25. Gas grill and tank donated from Mac’s Hardware, quarter of beef donated by Daly Family Farm, cooler and grill accessories donated by Aubuchon, 20 lbs. chicken drumsticks and thighs, and whole pork loin donated by Wentworth Family Grocery, Unity Ice Oval hooded sweatshirt donated by Unity Ice Oval Riders. For tickets, contact Kathy Bryant, 930-0796, or Rachel Nelson, 416-5829. Both are on Facebook Messenger also.

Cousin update

Art Harris is now going to be in hospice at this time. He is not getting any better. So sad.
