The National Weather Service placed parts of Knox and Waldo County under a tornado watch June 19.
There were multiple sightings of a funnel cloud that passed over Hope, Appleton, and Lincolnville but no reports yet of the funnel touching the ground. There were no reports of damages locally.
The tornado warning was issued by the Weather Service based on its weather radar readings. The storm was part of a line of strong thunderstorms that swept through central Maine and then out into Penobscot Bay.
A video of the funnel cloud was taken by Ethan Cayouette from the dock of Wayne Luce’s property on Hobbs Pond in Hope.
