ROCKPORT — Midcoast Recreation Center offers rollerskating and the organization includes coaches Amanda Fagan and Leila Percy, who have skated with the Rock Coast Roller Derby. The two also have backgrounds in education.

With the addition of the coaches, MRC, located off Route 90, will offer two additional rollerskating classes.

Taught by Fagan and Percy, the learn-to-rollerskate program will be a six-week program that runs Monday nights, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. for those ages 6 and older, and 6 to 7 p.m. for those ages 15 and older, including adults.

The program will begin on June 28. The cost is $80 for the six weeks.

Whether one is new to rollerskating or looking to get back into the activity after years away, this is a class to get one comfortable on skates.

For those beyond the beginner level, MRC offers a fitness skate program, taught by Percy. The class will run Sundays, 10 to 11 a.m., and one can register for the full eight-week session or drop-in. Drop-ins must be preregistered by the Saturday before the class will run. Not preregistering runs the risk of cancellation of the class if minimum numbers are not met.

For rollerskating opportunities outside of classes, MRC has public skates Mondays through Thursdays, noon to 2 p.m. and 3 to 5 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays, 10 a.m. to noon.

MRC also hosts themed skate nights the final Friday of each month. Glow Stick Skate Night is June 25.

Programs at MRC must be preregistered and prepayed.

Registration can be done through MRC’s website at or call 236-9400.
