STOCKTON SPRINGS — Peter Curley has submitted his resignation from the Board of Selectmen as of June 30. In a brief letter to Town Manager Mac Smith and the board, he said he was stepping down “for personal reasons.” In the letter, he also said, “I want to thank all those that supported me these past 14 years. I am deeply grateful.”

According to a statement by Smith, a special election has been called for the to fill the final year of his three-year term, expiring June 30, 2022.  The election will be held Tuesday, July 20, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on the bottom floor of the Town Office, which will be closed to other business that day.

Nomination papers are now available at the Town Office, which is open Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Papers must be returned no later than 5 p.m. Wednesday, July 7.
