BELFAST — Jan Pokorný, Ph.D., plant transpiration and climate scientist with ENKI in Czechoslovakia, will be Zooming with participants of “Tree Fodder Seminar 2021” on Tuesday, July 6, 1 to 2 p.m., and the public is invited at no charge. Email to receive the link.

Pokorný and his colleagues have published many studies examining and describing the actively cooling climate contributions of forests, fields and wetlands, while international climate policy tends to consider an over-simplification of plants as dark surfaces that heat. Carbon sequestration by plants happens simultaneously with the plant-driven phase-change of water to vapor, a process that locks up and exports heat energy from the sun.
