BELFAST — Ieva K. Bell-Shippee (Elksnis), 78, of Belfast passed away peacefully on June 26, 2021, after a courageous battle with heart and kidney disease.

She was born May 13, 1943, in Riga, Latvia, to Janis and Olga (Silins) Elksnis before immigrating to the United States. Ieva obtained her bachelor’s degree from Syracuse University before raising her family.

She was a talented artist and knitter, and enjoyed sharing the fruits of those talents with others. Ieva was a loving mother and grandmother, and a devoted friend.

In addition to her parents, Ieva was predeceased by her husband, David Shippee.

She is survived by her children, Hilary K. Dial and husband Troy of Highland, Utah; Rebecca A. Wilson and husband Ben of Dallas; and Matthew E. Bell and wife Trish of Westchester, Conn.; grandchildren Allison Bell of Westchester, Conn., and Anna, Liam and Nate Wilson, all of Dallas; a sister, Lisa Allen of Taunton, Mass.; her beloved cat, Simon; as well as extended family and friends. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
