Hello All,

I hope I’m not too late getting this posted for the newspaper. This laptop and me aren’t getting along, for whatever reason.

Sympathy to my cousin Arthur Harris’s family. He passed away quietly on June 20. I will miss his messages to me and phone calls. He was so good to me when his Mom Elsie was sick, drove from Massachusetts to Maine to bring me back for a visit. I shall really miss him as he was living in Florida for the past few years. As cousins we were always close. Cherish your family, they are all you have.

Graduation party

Some of us attended Jacie Nickerson’s graduation party June 26 at her home in Troy. It was a nice time. Nice to visit and see everyone. She will attend UMaine-Farmington in the fall, and wants to be a teacher. Go get it, Jacie !!!

Gabe and Reese came and visited on Sunday. We enjoyed the Legions Chicken Barbecue, and the Grange Strawberry Shortcake. I love the visits.

Newborn baby girl

Landry Catherine Cleaves was born on Monday June 28, to parents Dylan and Nikki Cleaves of Liberty. Congrats to all!!

Happy 58th anniversary to Wes and Gwen Kinney!! May you be blessed with more.

Mainely Pizza

Marilyn and I tried out the new pizza place in Liberty Thursday evening (the old Peavey Store location on Route 3). We brought pizza home. Saw folks we knew. It is owned by Kevin and Kathy (Williams) Coffin. They are open Tuesday through Saturday, 6 a.m.-8 p.m. The food was delicious. Check them out.

Happy birthday to my sister Marilyn McKenney on July 8h. May you have a nice day. Happy 4th birthday to little Chance Cunningham!! He is just so sweet, even with his illness. Happy 88th birthday to Francis Dudley!! An old friend indeed from the Pants Factory days.

UMO dean’s list

Sara and Katie Doughty both made the spring semester dean’s list. Congrats, young ladies! So proud of you both! (Nursing and pre-med.)

Cancer battle

Tara Grotton, wife of Wayne Grotton, has been fighting cancer, now hospice battle. She thanks everyone for the beautiful flowers and plants, but in lieu of flowers she wishes to have donations in her honor to go toward a new playground at the Field of Dreams park in Unity. An account has been set up at Bangor Savings Bank as Miranda Doughty posted this. She also has Venmo, MirandaDoughty, and the last four of her number, 5538. The family appreciates all the love, and please send prayers for a peaceful passing. Miranda is also on Facebook if you wish to message her there. Bless Tara for her thoughtful project. She is in my thoughts and prayers.

Getting down to the last of the berries, I believe. Have had some shortcakes, and made jam. Yum. Thanks to Don Orff, got more berries. The season goes fast.

It sure is summertime here. Wow, we have had high temps and humidity to go with it. Glad it is cooling off now. We got some much-needed rain. There was thunder, lightning and rain. In places such as Belgrade, they got a microburst taking down trees and power lines. We had some wind, but not bad here at all.

Some stranger somewhere remembers you because you were kind to them!

Brown-tail moths

They are white, but beware and get rid of them if you can.The females will lay the eggs to hatch out those darned old caterpillars with the toxic hairs causing us to have the rash. Some people recommended using a Premise Spray that they got at Tractor Supply. Have never heard of it. And some hosed them down to kill them. Whatever works, I guess.

Congrats, Little League

Congrats to Belfast Silver as the new Waldo County Little League champions!!  Way to go, kids!!
