PROSPECT — A 10-axle low-bed truck carrying a large medical imaging machine became stuck Wednesday afternoon near the entrance to the Penobscot Narrows Bridge.
Shannon Moss, spokesperson for the Maine State Police, said the truck was being escorted from Kittery to Mount Desert Island Hospital in Bar Harbor. The truck was low to the ground and got hung up, she said. Traffic was rerouted for many hours.
The rig was freed up last night, she added in an email exchange, and the road is now clear.
The unit was temporarily moved to the Department of Transportation turnout on Bucksport Road in Ellsworth. The truck resumed its journey Thursday morning, Moss said.
Maine State Police escorted the truck, while Stockton Springs Fire and Rescue crews helped reroute traffic.
