It is already the middle of July, the month that was named to honor Julius Caesar (100BC–44BC). In 46 BC, Julius Caesar made one of his greatest contributions to history: With the help of Sosigenes, he developed the Julian calendar, the precursor to the Gregorian calendar that we use today.

I hear lots of positive comments about Dustin’s favorite radio station, 93.5, Cruisin’ Country.  Several  people enjoy listening to  Country Gold with Terry Clark on Saturday nights.  If you haven’t listened in yet, give it a try.

With all this rain, humidity and sunshine, every thing is really growing.  I practically run from the lawnmower, to the cultivator and then grab the hose and start around again.  I will say that I never get bored.

I have seen some beautiful flower gardens when I have been out and about.  A good year for lots of beautiful blossoms.

Subway has reopened at Depot Store in Unity.  We will have to get us some sandwiches soon.  They definitely make good ones.

Effective immediately, Thorndike residents can register new cars at the Troy Town Office on Tuesdays.  Most other motor vehicle transactions can be done at the Thorndike Town Office. Thorndike residents will no longer be able to go to the Unity Town Office for registrations, except for commercial trucks.

On July 24 at 4:30 p.m., the Thorndike Cemetery Committee will host a stone cleaning workshop in the Center Cemetery.  All are welcome.

On Saturday, July 31, the family of Ronnie Turner is planning a celebration of life with a barbecue at 4 p.m. at the home of Donna and Larry Duclos in Thorndike on Mile Road — follow the signs.  Call any of the family members if you have any questions.

It seems that folks are having a difficult time finding the phone number of the best plumber around, my grandson, Tanner Grant. So here it is one more time: Grant’s Plumbing, 207-944-4355. When you find yourself in need of a good plumber, give him a call.

Charles Wadsworth is quoted as saying, “By the time a man realizes that maybe his father was right, he usually has a son who thinks he’s wrong.”
