BELFAST — The Belfast Police Department announced July 26 that a drug collection box is now available in the lobby of police headquarters for dropping off unused medications, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Funded in part by a grant from the Knox County Community Health Coalition of Rockport, the box is conveniently placed in the lobby of the police station at 112 Church St., Belfast.

Note that the following items are not accepted in the drop box: inhalers, aerosol cans, ointments, lotions or liquids, medication from businesses or clinics, needles, thermometers, hydrogen peroxide or illegal drugs.
