During the last Select Board meeting, the 2021 mill rate was set at 19.4. The board was able to keep the mill rate the same as last year. However, next year there will be a revaluation of properties along with other increases in town responsibilities that will most likely cause an increase in taxes and the mill rate for 2022. Expect your 2021 tax bill in the next few weeks.

The town of Stockton Springs presented a proposal to have a formal contract concerning ambulance service between the two towns. The contract will come with a share of the expense in the ambulance operation. In 2020 Prospect accounted for 25% of the call volume for the Ambulance Service. The Stockton Springs town manager calculated 25% of the expense and 25% of the revenue for the Ambulance Service to total $38,575. In the last several years, Prospect paid $7,800 toward the Ambulance Service. Negotiations and open workshops will be conducted by the Prospect Select Board in the coming months.
