ZELLWOOD, Fla. — Gladys (Clark) Godbey, 87, died Monday, July 26, 2021, after a long illness. She was born Oct. 14, 1933, in City Point to Lester and Louise (Beckwith) Clark and grew up in nearby Belfast. She was married to J.R. Godbey for 66 years, and they traveled and lived in Ohio, Canada and California while he served in the Air Force. They moved to Florida in 1973.

Gladys loved to tell stories and make people laugh. She enjoyed arts and crafts, puzzles and games, and reading books, especially mysteries. For many years, she worked in the accounting field, and even after retirement, she could always find a reason to create a spreadsheet. A member of Zellwood United Methodist Church, Gladys took delight in filling shoeboxes with toys for the church to send overseas through Operation Christmas Child.

In addition to J.R., Gladys is survived by daughters Terry Godbey and Betsy Moseley, son Timothy Godbey, and grandsons Christopher Moseley, Matthew Moseley and Tyler Glenn. She was preceded in death by grandsons Frederick Moseley V and Andrew Moseley.

Baldwin Brothers Funeral & Cremation Society is handling arrangements. The family plans a small, private celebration of life. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to AdventHealth Hospice Care Central Florida.
