BELFAST — Ruth E. Robbins, 97, died Aug. 16, 2021. She was born in Belfast Aug. 1, 1924, the middle child of the three children of Freeman E. Walker and Madeline E. Walker. Ruth was educated at local Belfast schools, including Crosby High School. She held many jobs throughout the years, ending her working career with 20 years at Depositors Trust, which became Key Bank.

In 1942, Ruth married Rodney Robbins and together they raised three children while leading a busy life buying, renovating and selling homes in Belfast. Ruth was a prolific reader, watcher of dramas and user of technology. Over the years she proudly owned several computers, a smartphone, several Kindles and, most recently, an iPad. She was open to learning new things and was not intimidated by the advancing world around her. She was a compassionate, kind and giving person, worried more about the welfare of others than about herself.

She is survived by her son, Roger E. Robbins, and his wife, Linda Cammarota, of Newbury, N.H.; a son-in-law, Stephen M. Boguen, of Belfast; a sister, Larita Gray, of Fairfield; a brother, Augustus Marshall, of Belfast; five grandchildren, Kevin R. Kibbe (Doreen) of Enfield, Conn.; Christopher G. Kibbe (Donna-Jo) of Somers, Conn.; and Roger A. Kibbe (Michelle) of Coventry, R.I.; special granddaughter Amanda E. Munson (Patrick) of Belfast and grandson Michael S. Boguen (Amanda Curtis) of Belmont. Ruth also had 13 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Ruth was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Rodney, her brother Franklin E. Walker, her sister Lillian M. Green, two daughters, Donna Costa of Somers, Conn. and Jan E. Boguen of Belfast, and a son-in-law, Roger Costa of Somers, Conn.

A graveside service for the family will be held at Grove Cemetery in Belfast. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ruth’s memory may be made to the WCGH Oncology Patient Assistance Fund, 116 Northport Ave., Belfast, ME 04915.
