The weather has been great, with just enough showery days to get a little housework done. I figure I will have all winter to get it done.

The town of Thorndike has opened up the bidding for the town plowing and sanding contract for the 2021-22 season. The request is for sealed bids from qualified contractors for snow removal at the Thorndike Town Office parking lot and the Thorndike Fire Department parking lot for the period from October 2021 through April 30, 2022.  Please refer to https://thorndikeme.com for specifications and requirements that can be requested from the Town Office or viewed online.

Bids will be accepted and recorded by receipt until 11 a.m. Sept. 20 at the Thorndike Town Office, 125 Mount View Road. All bids should be sealed and labeled as follows: Snow Removal and Sanding Contract 2021-2022. All bids should be addressed to: pTown of Thorndike, P.O. Box 10, Thorndike, ME 04986.

All bids will be publicly opened and read aloud at the regular meeting of the Select Board on Sept. 22 at 6:30 p.m. at the Thorndike Town Office.

Papa Dixon was a recent visitor of Dustin’s. They certainly have a grand old time laughing at their own stories.  They even get me laughing. Dustin certainly enjoys those visits.

I am wishing Brian Warman a swift recovery and hope he gets home soon.

Have you been to the “My Sister and I” gift shop, 29 Depot St. in Thorndike Village? Check out their beautiful fall arrangements. They are open Tuesday-Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. They can also be reached at 568-3617.

Welcome to Richard and Evelyn. Glad to see that you’re home for a visit.

Margaret Thatcher is quoted as saying, “I am extraordinarily patient, provided I get my own way in the end.”

Have a great week and get with canning those tomatoes.
