LIBERTY — Yvonne S. Anderson, 67, passed away unexpectedly at Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center Aug. 31, 2020. Vonnie was born in Key West, Fla., June 2, 1953, to Palmer Aughenbaugh and Dora Green, who both predeceased her.

Vonnie and her husband, Pete, moved from Clinton, Conn., to Liberty in 1985 with their two children. She worked for several years at Tidelawn Manor in Westbrook, Conn. After moving to Maine, she worked at several local businesses, which included ME & D Store in Burketville, Hazel’s Place in Liberty, Camp Neofa in Montville, Evergreen Valley Greenhouse in Searsmont, and Cindy’s Daycare in Liberty. She enjoyed working in her gardens and spending time with her grandchildren.

Vonnie was predeceased by her parents, one sister and her husband of 44 years, Pete.

Surviving are her daughter, Amanda, and her husband, Daniel; her son, Sean; her brother, Arthur, and his wife, Melinda; and her grandchildren, Kaylan, Hannah, Kallie, Sean and Shane.

It is with a heavy heart that this obituary is written a year after Vonnie’s passing. The family had planned a celebration of life this summer, hoping that COVID-19 would have subsided enough to celebrate her life. However, with the recent increase in COVID-19 cases in Waldo County, in order to help keep friends and family safe, the family asks that you remember Vonnie by spending time in your gardens and planting something in her memory.

A special note for all of the grandchildren: Always remember that Grammie Vonnie loves you a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck.
