Upcoming Grange meetings

The Branch Mills Grange will hold a public meeting Thursday, Sept. 2, at 6:30 p.m. Topics include upcoming events and projects. Light refreshments will be served following the meeting. All are welcome to attend.

On Tuesday, Sept. 7, at noon, the Pomona Grange meeting will be held, including a luncheon.

Best decorators

The Branch Mills Grange held a children’s best-decorated fruit or vegetable contest during the Palermo Volunteer Fire Department’s picnic Aug. 22. Children ages 1-12 were asked to decorate a fruit or vegetable in their favorite style and were encouraged to do so with flair!

Twelve youngsters submitted entries and all had a lot of fun! The children said, “Let’s do this again next year!”

This year’s winners were all from the same talented family. The Dubois children swept the field: Anna (1st place) with her old granny, Noah (2nd place) with his Hawaiian parrot, and Luke (3rd place) with his owl.

Thank you to all the children who participated!
