Condolences to the family and friends of Julie Rich. She always had such a cute smile. She will be missed.

Rosemarie, at the Thorndike Town Office, has come across some returned mail and not only can it not be delivered, but they have no phone number or way to contact them. Please make sure the Town Office has your correct mailing address and phone number. You are responsible for the taxes even if you did not receive the tax bill.

Sending Mike Mayer and family sincere condolences on the loss of his Nana. She was quite a character and will be missed by many who enjoyed her antics.

I have been giving away tomatoes and zucchini this past week. I have three regular tomato plants, one paste tomato plant and one cherry tomato plant, and man, do I have tomatoes!  I love fresh tomatoes, but I can only eat so many.

Thorndike will be celebrating Harvest Days Saturday, Sept. 18, starting with a parade at 10 a.m., live music noon to 4 p.m., chicken barbecue, family activities and much more.  Come enjoy the day in the country and see all that Thorndike has to offer.

For the entire month of September, the Brooks Thrift  Store is running a special on all infant and children’s clothing.  You buy one piece at 50 cents and get one free.  Hours are Thursday and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.  Hope to see you there.

The town of Thorndike has contracted with Maine Assessment & Appraisal Services Inc. to perform a complete municipal equalization revaluation of all real and personal property in the town of Thorndike effective for the 2022 tax year. All buildings — houses, garages, barns, outbuildings and sheds — will be measured, listed for building detail and photos taken of the exterior from the road for the tax file.

If no one is home during the initial visit, a door hanger will be left informing the owners that the building exteriors were measured and listed. A phone number will be provided for the homeowner to call and schedule an appointment if they so wish. The more accurate assessment of a property is done with an interior inspection.

Albert Einstein is quoted as saying, “If A is success in life, then A = x + y + z.  Work is x, play is y, and z is keeping your mouth shut.”

Have a great week and get the last of the veggies out of the garden. Time to think about cleaning out the garden space and getting it ready for winter.
