Congratulations to Tyler and Catherine Hadyniak on the birth of their daughter, Sophia Eileen. Life as you knew it is gone forever. It will be a great journey for you two.

If you are interested in putting in a bid for the town of Thorndike plowing contract for the October 2021 through April 30, 2022, season, remember to get your bids in to the office by 11 a.m. Monday, Sept 20.  Please visit thorndikeme.com for specifications and requirements, which can be requested from the Town Office or viewed online.

Thorndike will be celebrating Harvest Days Saturday, Sept. 18, beginning with a parade starting at 10 a.m., live music noon to 4 p.m., chicken barbecue, family activities and much more. Come, bring the kiddos and spend the day. Fun for all.

The Brooks Thrift Store, located in the Varney Building, is running a special on all infant and children’s clothing for the entire month of September. You purchase one item for 50 cents and get one free. Their hours are Thursdays and Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Janelle Pomeroy was visiting friends in town recently and I was lucky enough to have a phone chat with her. She is doing great and loves living in Florida.

I have started cleaning out the garden and I got slowed down a bit with all the rain, but I will continue tomorrow. I must say, I enjoy the planting more than the clean-up.

I got a phone call from Donnie Bagley recently. He is doing well and told about watching a bear out back by the apple tree. He said it was his first bear sighting.

I have some great apples on my trees this year. I will be doing some baking with a lot of them. Apple sauce, apple crisp and apple tarts will be on the to-do list.

Dustin and I are still enjoying having lunch and listening to music in the gazebo.

It is time to make sure your dog is up-to-date on rabies vaccine, so you will be able to get your pet licensed at the Town Office by the end of the year. It is fast approaching.

I hope everyone has a safe and happy Labor Day Weekend.

President Dwight D. Eisenhower was quoted as saying, “A people that values its privileges above its principles soon loses both.”

Have a great week and go for a walk with a friend.
