BELFAST — Two people were arrested Sunday evening on drug charges after a traffic stop on Route 1.
Belfast Police Chief Gerald Lincoln said during the Sept. 12 traffic stop, officers observed drugs and paraphernalia in the vehicle.
The driver, Rhiannon Welch, 43, of Waterville, was out on bail with conditions, while her passenger was identified as Timothy Jennings, 56, of Oxford.
During the search of the vehicle and later at Welch’s motel room, police discovered a .38 caliber revolver underneath the car passenger seat that had been reported stolen from a burglary in Auburn earlier, $12,188 in suspected drug proceeds, 62.3 grams of methamphetamine, 20 morphine tablets, Xanax tablets, heroin, suspected fentanyl, suspected Ecstasy or Molly tablets, and other drug paraphernalia.
Welch was arrested and charged with trafficking scheduled drugs and violating conditions of release, while Jennings was arrested and charged with trafficking scheduled drugs, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person and theft by receiving stolen property.
Welch and Jennings were taken to Waldo County Jail.
