BELFAST — Nomination papers were due last week for two City Council seats and the mayor’s seat in the Nov. 2 election. Nobody submitted nomination papers to contest Mike Hurley’s and Brenda Bonneville’s council seats, wards 4 and 3, respectively, or Mayor Eric Sanders’ seat. Each carries a two-year term.

Ryan Harnden and Ryan Otis are also running unopposed for two, three-year Regional School Unit 71 Board of Directors seats and Elizabeth Burnett, who was recently nominated by councilors to replace outgoing board member Charlie Grey until the election, is running unopposed for a one-year term.

There are also several wardens and ward clerks running unopposed and no one is seeking the position of warden of ward 5. There are no local referendum questions this year, but there are three statewide questions.
