Volunteer Fire Department

The Fire Department was called to Route 3 Friday evening about 10 p.m. on Sept. 10 for what could have been a very serious accident. A pickup truck skidded across the road and went into the trees, trapping the occupant briefly. The occupant was transported by Belfast rescue to the hospital. Belfast jaws was called for but canceled en route. Morrill Engine 34 and Utility 30 responded with five personnel.

The interior painting projects at the station are about about to commence and more help would be appreciated; call Jethro, 342-5910, if you can volunteer two-three hours assisting with this. The firefighters give a lot of their time to be prepared to help you in an emergency, so please help them a little if you can.

The Ladies Auxiliary rifle raffle is doing very well. over two thirds of the tickets have been sold. The drawing is scheduled to be held on Veterans Day, Nov. 11, but, at the rate the tickets are selling we will be able to draw the winning name sooner. When the tickets (700) are sold we will announce a drawing time at least a week in advance so any one that wishes may come to the Fire Department for that event. Watch this column for more information.

On Sept. 12 we had a surprise 80th birthday party for Mom (Jenese) at Rae & Cliff’s house in Searsmont. There was a chicken barbecue, with lots of side dishes, and I made a cake for her. I have to tell you it’s hard to pull off this surprise when you live with her. She asked so many questions and was upset because the cake was still sitting there.

So I had to tell her some white lies and said they were for Kyra’s family get-together, also that week; I had to make four chocolate cakes. We did pulled pork and chicken to sell last Saturday up to the Unity Raceway for a snowmobile trade. So if you know my Mom, she has to know everything and can usually tell if I’m not telling the truth but I pulled it off and she had an awesome time with friends and family. I want to thank everyone that came, you all made her day.

On Sept. 9, Reggie’s daughter and granddaughter, along with their dog Smitty, came to visit for the weekend with Reggie, Cheryl and Brain. Reggie, his daughter Kristen and granddaughter Ava
went on a hike and walks. They all had a very wonderful time. His daughter and granddaughter came up from Massachusetts. They are such wonderful, caring people.

You all have a great week and enjoy what is left of the warm weather. Be kind to one another and tell them you love them.

Quote of the week

Next time you’re stressed, take a step back, inhale and laugh. Remember who you are and why you’re
here. You’re never given anything in the world that you can’t handle. Be strong, be flexible, love yourself
and love others. Always remember, just keep moving forward. — daveswordsofwisdom.com
