BELFAST — William F. Wood, 75, passed away Sept. 13, 2021, from complications of COVID-19 at Maine Medical Center in Portland. He was born in Belfast to Forrest S. Wood and Eleanor (Crabiel) Wood Sept. 10, 1946.

Bill grew up in Fairfield and lived his married life in Oakland. He started out as an LPN and started Arrow Ambulance with his friend, Larry Forsythe. Later, he worked for his parents at JE McCormick & Son on Sanger Avenue in Waterville. He then worked for the Oakland Wastewater Treatment Plant until his retirement in 2011.

Bill and his wife Muriel (“Murr”) moved to Belfast in 2000 after Bill’s mother passed. Here, they greatly enjoyed boating and living on the ocean.

Bill leaves Muriel, his wife of 54 years; daughter Michelle Alessi and her spouse, Stephen, of Haverhill, Mass.; son F. Stephen Wood and partner Leithan of Portland; and grandchildren Isabelle and Connor Alessi. He was predeceased by his parents, brother and sister.
